“Gripping, but not for the faint‑hearted”

Blackburn's narrative blends nationalism, extremism, economics, and global politics, blurring the line between fiction and reality. It confronts brutal acts of terror, exposing the futility of a united global front. The story is gripping but not for the faint-hearted, highlighting the dominance of national and in-group interests over utopian ideals. It provokes thought while offering both entertainment and insight. Navigating the story may require a search engine to distinguish fact from fiction. "A Post Truth World" excels in this regard. The dialogue is sharp, and character evolution promises intrigue in future books. Overall, it's a masterful reflection of our complex world.

“A great opener”

Continuous action from start to finish. Blackburn has created a really interesting and believable team in this opener and I really look forward to the sequel from him and what is in store for them. The exciting characters developed throughout the novel, backed by a mix of fiction interspersed with real-life history and events combine to create a fascinating and exciting story. A very easy read that I simply had to finish and a must for any fan of a fast-paced drama!

“A great read”

I’ve really enjoyed this book. Well researched and I’ve loved where it involves different parts of the story from different parts of world. An intriguing plot and it was good to read the background stories of the team that really built up the story. Definitely something to read at the moment when you are spending a lot of time indoors. This shows you that people can work together towards a common enemy.

“International Rescue”

Wow, what a fantastic read. Lots of great characters brought together into a dynamic team to make idealistic technological aspirations into realities. Blackburn creates an accurate reflection of the world and its troubles, and let's them boil over for his unique team to deal with. He uses ancient history to add rich context to the story, making the fanciful seem utterly plausible and tees up nicely by the end of the book for what should be a great series of global adventures.

“Ingenious and exciting”

Douglas Blackburn has created an enthralling and thought provoking thriller with so many hints of realism and plausibility the reader can actually imagine the scenarios unfolding. The underlying questions posed are so close to the social, cultural and political problems faced by our planet, taking it even closer to that edge between fiction and reality which makes this an excellent read.

“A mix of Fleming and Hawking”

Looking forward to the next in the series. A great easy read for a weekend. Subtle and nuanced in parts and obviously well researched. A mix of Fleming and Hawking.

“Hard to put down”

Once you open it, it is hard to put down until the end! A page-turner which has its plot immersed in a realistic backdrop weaved of international political relations, possible global threats and scientific areas currently in the focus of international research.

The characters, albeit at certain points stereotyped, do make one of the strong points of the book with well developed realistic psychological profiles. They are being gradually introduced and developed as the story unfolds. The book is very well structured with the descriptions of two transnational organisations being described interchangably as the connections are being built to strengthen them: one is there to keep the global order safe and improved and another to destroy it and rebuild it in its own way. Both intend to use scientific achievements to their advantage.

The book raises the warning that knowledge and technology in wrong hands can become a real threat for humanity but also that different views and standpoints need to be taken into account if aiming for global stability.

All in all, a very well written and intelligent reading. I'd recommend it not only for its qualities as a thriller and those mentioned above but also for the universal messages it leaves the reader with, to name only a few: devoted, enthusiastic and conscientious individuals do make the progress and change in the world, it takes a global action and transnational cooperation for the peace to be achieved globally.

“Exciting and Intriguing”

An Exciting and Intriguing Read. The story line caught my interest from the outset. Subsequently the writer skilfully blends a number of interconnected narratives together for a gripping finale. The level of detail given in the explorations of new technologies is particularly interesting as are the author’s depictions of the main characters. Given his experiences, they are clearly drawn from personal acquaintance and I would be curious to know who they really are! Overall this book is a clever combination of International Relations, innovative technologies and an imaginative central plot which leaves us open to a subsequent sequel. I look forward to reading it.

“Non stop action”

The book begins with a seemingly unrelated recounting of a traditional Inuit walrus hunt. Then the story quickly switches to the formation of a new political entity supported by the UN. From there the plot itself unfolds into a voyage around the world, bringing to life people, places and cultures. The author achieves this by painting a narrative that transports you mentally to experience these places and events through the eyes of the characters. All of this narrative is meticulously planned, culminating in a series of events that surprises, informs, puzzles and hooks you, making it impossible to put the book down. Great book!
